Controversy Surrounds LGBTQ Pride Events at Elementary Schools

More than 100 parents protested against a Pride Day assembly at a North Hollywood elementary school, leading to a tense scene with counterprotesters and police. The group behind the protest, called Saticoy Elementary Parents, claimed they weren't against LGBTQ+ people but urged other parents to keep their children home that day. The protest followed weeks of turmoil that saw a transgender teacher's LGBTQ+ Pride flag burned. The Los Angeles Unified School District confirmed that the Los Angeles School Police Department was providing additional patrols around campus for the safety of students and staff members.
