Grief and Tension at Funeral of Banko Brown, Killed for Shoplifting in San Francisco
TL;DR
Family and friends of Banko Brown gathered at Third Baptist Church in San Francisco for his funeral, but a fight broke out among family members during the service. The tension was a symptom of the “societal trauma” and profound grief experienced by the family and Black people in general, according to Rev. Amos Brown. Banko Brown was shot and killed by a Walgreens security guard on April 27 over alleged shoplifting.
