The draw is real estate, with houses in Las Vegas having a median listing price of about $460,000, compared with about $800,000 in Honolulu. Las Vegas has a flourishing Hawaiian community, with Hawaiian language classes, dance lessons, and restaurants serving traditional Hawaiian food. Hawaiians in Las Vegas have found creative ways to keep their culture alive, such as making leis for graduations and performing traditional Hawaiian sports like outrigger canoeing on Lake Mead.
