"Controversy Surrounds Proposed Monumental Sports Site in Alexandria"
TL;DR
Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals, responded to Alexandria residents opposing the plan to move the teams to a new arena in Potomac Yard, calling their concerns "personally frustrating." The proposal includes a $2 billion development with an arena, practice facility, performing arts center, hotels, and more. The plan still needs approval from the Alexandria City Council and Virginia General Assembly, with concerns raised about traffic congestion and the ability of the Potomac Yard Metro stop to handle arena crowds.
