Chinese-American Engineer Arrested for Stealing U.S. Missile Tracking Tech

The Department of Justice charged a U.S. engineer, Chenguang Gong, with stealing trade secret technologies related to missile tracking and defense from a Los Angeles-area company. Gong, a naturalized American citizen originally from China, allegedly sought to provide sensitive information to the Chinese military through talent programs. The stolen files included blueprints for infrared sensors used in space-based systems to detect nuclear missile launches and track ballistic and hypersonic missiles. The DOJ emphasized the potential danger to U.S. national security if such technology were to be obtained by international actors.
