Montana becomes first US state to ban TikTok

Montana legislators have passed a bill to ban TikTok from operating in the state, citing concerns over the app's ties to China. The bill would prohibit mobile app stores from offering TikTok for download to users in Montana, and TikTok, as well as Apple and Google, would face fines if they violate the ban. TikTok has denied sharing data with the Chinese government and is working on an initiative to store American user data in the US on servers operated by Oracle.
