OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush discussed the design of the Titan submersible, including its carbon fiber hull, safety features, and unique design in interviews conducted in 2022. Rush emphasized the importance of using carbon fiber for its strength-to-buoyancy ratio and explained the monitoring system in place to detect any potential issues with the hull. He also highlighted the comfort and simplicity of the sub's interior, which is controlled using a game controller. Rush and four others were killed in June 2023 when the Titan suffered a catastrophic implosion during a dive to the wreck of the Titanic.
