Fatal Fire at Mexico Migrant Center Exposes Negligence and Tragedy.

A fire in a migrant detention center in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, killed 38 migrants and injured 28 others. The blaze was apparently set in protest by the detainees themselves. Advocacy groups blamed the tragedy on a long series of decisions made by leaders in places like Venezuela and Central America, and by immigration policymakers in Mexico and the United States. The migrants were stuck in Ciudad Juarez because U.S. immigration policies don’t allow them to cross the border to file asylum claims.
