Teen dies trying to save brother in Sacramento River

A 15-year-old boy drowned while trying to rescue his younger brother from the Sacramento River. The boys' mother also jumped in to help but all three were unable to swim to safety. The Sacramento Fire Department and other agencies responded to the scene but the challenging conditions made it difficult to rescue the boy. The family credits some boaters in the area with helping to pull the surviving brother and mother to safety. The family has set up a GoFundMe site to help with funeral and burial costs and wants people to know that the boy died a hero.
