TL;DR

An experienced hiker, Christopher Roma, died in New Hampshire's White Mountains after making a distress call saying he was "very cold." Severe winter conditions hindered rescue efforts, with heavy winds and frigid temperatures. Despite attempts by ground and aerial teams, including the New Hampshire Army National Guard, Roma's body was recovered by helicopter the next morning.
