NTSB Probes Amazon Cargo Jet Crash in Miami That Killed Five

Federal investigators are probing why an Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 cargo jet overran a runway at Miami International Airport, killing five people; early lines of inquiry include whether the plane touched down too late to stop, with scrutiny of touchdown distance, speed, braking, weather and the aircraft’s maintenance history. The NTSB, led by Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy, has dispatched a team to examine ownership, the jet’s conversion from passenger service, and other factors. The crash disrupted flights, and Amazon said it will cooperate with the investigation.
