Bronx carjacking chase ends with sergeant struck, suspect shot by police

An NYPD sergeant was struck and knocked into the air by a stolen Kia during a multi-borough chase in the Bronx. As officers surrounded the vehicle, the suspect reversed and hit an unmarked police car, prompting a fellow officer to shoot the suspect as he attempted to drive away. The sergeant and several other officers were hospitalized with injuries; the suspect was wounded and also hospitalized. The suspect faces multiple felonies, including felony assault, reckless endangerment, and firearm possession, and the investigation is ongoing.
