Honolulu Doctor Convicted in Cliff-Edge Attack on Wife

A Hawaii doctor, Gerhardt Konig, was convicted of attempted manslaughter for an assault on his wife Arielle during a hike on Honolulu’s Pali Puka trail. Arielle testified he grabbed her and moved toward the cliff while she fought back; Konig insisted he acted in self‑defense after she allegedly struck him, and he denied having a syringe. The trial, livestreamed and detailing their troubled marriage, saw Konig spend hours atop the mountain before descending and calling his son. Arielle has since filed for divorce, and sentencing is pending.
