Pilot’s ‘career is over’ remark after Amazon cargo jet crash in Miami

Two Amazon Prime Air pilots survived a deadly crash at Miami International Airport when a Boeing 767 overshot the runway, struck multiple vehicles and burst into flames, killing five people in the vehicles and injuring five others. Investigators are examining whether the plane landed too late to stop; NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy described the scene as “utter devastation.” The pilots, Felipe Silva Molina, 37, and Joseph Carroll, 55, escaped with minor injuries; one borrowed an airport employee’s phone to tell his wife he was OK and, though shaken, reportedly said, “My career is over.” The flight was from Puerto Rico to Miami.
