Video shows mom praying for missing nonverbal daughter as search ends in tragedy

Geordyn Hayes, mother of five-year-old nonverbal autistic Saylor Hayes, was filmed pleading with volunteers for help locating her daughter during a disappearance in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Saylor was later found dead in a nearby waterway. Geordyn and her husband John Hayes were arrested on charges of unlawfully placing a child at risk and willfully abandoning a child. Investigators noted Saylor wasn't wearing a Project Lifesaver transmitter at the time, and while the device’s signal appeared to trace to a Virginia residence, it had been removed before the family left the area. An autopsy is scheduled for Sept. 4.
