Four die in Piper PA-24 crash near remote Alaska town of Seldovia

A small Piper PA-24 carrying four adults crashed into shallow water near the remote Alaska town of Seldovia after departing from Anchorage. The aircraft went under in about 15 feet of water near Seldovia Slough; authorities recovered the four bodies and will withhold names until next of kin are notified. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation. Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan said he will receive a briefing from the NTSB and FAA as officials work to determine the cause. A separate fatal crash at a remote western Alaska military site occurred less than a week earlier, killing eight people on board.
