Fugitive who faked death and fled to Scotland dies in U.S. hospital

Nicholas Rossi, the American fugitive who faked his death and fled to Scotland to avoid justice, has died in a U.S. hospital after choosing to discontinue medical treatment. Rossi was serving 10 years to life for raping two women in Utah in 2008, was extradited to the U.S. in January 2024 after a prolonged identity dispute, and died on June 25, 2026 due to complications from a chronic condition.
