Ghost Names Haunt the AI-Generated Research Record

A Samsung–University of Warsaw preprint shows AI models routinely generate the same 'ghost' author names across hundreds of AI-written papers, with fake DOIs on Zenodo and listings on ResearchGate and search engines. The resulting 'name priors' and correlated name ensembles threaten the integrity of the scholarly record, but could also offer a cue for detecting AI-generated content as publishers and investigators contend with increasing AI-driven submissions.
