Díaz Out Three Months After Elbow Surgery as Abel’s Breakout Hits IL
TL;DR
Edwin Díaz is set to miss about three months after elbow surgery to remove loose bodies, forcing the Dodgers to lean on a closer-by-committee approach and reshaping the late-inning plan; Mick Abel’s strong run for the Phillies is halted by right elbow inflammation and a 15-day IL stint, likely sidelining him for weeks, while other notable injuries—Jhoan Duran and Daniel Palencia with left oblique strains and Sonny Gray’s hamstring —further scramble the early-season closer landscape.
