Painter Breaks Out as 8/22 SP Roundup Highlights an Ace Upsurge
TL;DR
Andrew Painter delivered the standout performance in the 8/22 SP Roundup with a 7-inning, 1-run start against STL, featuring a 99.6 mph final fastball and an improved changeup that cemented his ace upside (PLV Stuff+ grade around 120). The rest of the Saturday slate offered a mix of solid outings (Cease, Skubal, Wacha, López, Kremer) and some hiccups, plus the MLB debut of Andrews Sears in relief. Weathers left with a forearm strain, adding a cautionary note for injuries as managers decide streaming and hold decisions for the stretch run. Overall, Painter’s breakout solidifies him as a top add, while the day’s other starts provide a range of upside and risk for fantasy rosters.
