Historic ban reshapes MTG's eternal formats
TL;DR
MTG's March 23, 2026 Banned and Restricted Update bans Food Chain in Historic; all other formats (Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, Alchemy, Timeless, Brawl) have no changes. The update emphasizes healthy, diverse metagames across formats, notes TMNT cards affecting Pauper and Alchemy, and mentions Secrets of Strixhaven coming next month for Standard. A March 24 WeeklyMTG livestream will discuss changes. In Pauper, a trial unban of Bonder's Ornament was considered, and Utrom Monitor drop rates will be increased on MTGO starting April 1, with Pauper featured in the new MOCS season starting March 25.
