TL;DR

After the 2026 season, Detroit reportedly offered Tarik Skubal a four-year, $75 million extension; Boras claims an eight-year deal would have been more appealing, contradicting Scott Harris’s account that only a single extension was ever offered. With Skubal now a Dodger, Detroit shifts to a high-upside rotation (Melton, Valdez, Jobe, River Ryan) and a deep prospect pool as it looks to a brighter 2027.
