49ers rookie Kaelon Black earns coaches' trust, eyes RB2 path
TL;DR
The Athletic reports Kaelon Black has the trust of 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and RB coach Bobby Turner, a rare endorsement for a rookie tailback since Elijah Mitchell in 2021. In Week 1 against the Rams, Black rushed 14 times for 65 yards as Christian McCaffrey played more in the passing game; with McCaffrey's workload potentially being dialed back, Black could push for RB2 duties behind McCaffrey, making him a fantasy stash in deeper leagues and a potential weekly option if his role grows.
