Capitals trade Dowd to Golden Knights for goalie prospect and picks
TL;DR
The Washington Capitals traded veteran center Nic Dowd to the Vegas Golden Knights for goalie prospect Jesper Vikman and two future draft picks (a 2027 third-round pick and a 2029 second-round pick). Dowd, a defensively minded forward and key penalty killer, is under contract for one more year at a $3 million cap hit. Vegas, facing injuries to center Karlsson and Howden, bolsters its depth with Dowd, while Vikman—still early in his pro career with limited AHL success—edges onto their goalie pipeline.
