Nassau County Implements Ban on Transgender Athletes in Girls' Sports

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman signed an executive order banning trans women from participating in women’s sports teams at county facilities, threatening sports leagues with loss of access if they don't comply. The move has drawn criticism from LGBTQ+ rights advocates, including New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and State Attorney General Letitia James, who called the order "transphobic and deeply dangerous." The New York Civil Liberties Union also labeled the order as "illegal" and is considering options to stop it.
