In the final 400 metres of Tour de France stage 12 into Chalon-sur-Saône, a high-speed domino crash struck after Fernando Gaviria bumped Olav Kooij, sending several riders including Søren Wærenskjold and Dorian Godon to the pavement. Gaviria sustained a likely broken collarbone, with Wærenskjold among the injured; Tim Merlier won the stage as roughly 15 riders finished. The crash occurred inside the final 5km safety window, so no time was lost on GC, and the sprint was hampered by a technical run-in and multiple turns and bumps.
