Trans-rights activists clash with anti-trans athlete at SFSU event

Riley Gaines, an activist against trans women in women’s sports, was escorted to safety by police after protesters showed up to her speech at San Francisco State University on Thursday. Gaines, who has gone on a public crusade against trans swimmer Lia Thomas, was invited to speak by the university’s chapter of Turning Point USA. Videos on social media show San Francisco State University police officers shielding Gaines and escorting her away from a swarm of protesters who followed and taunted her. Several conservative figures issued online statements supporting Gaines and condemning the protesters.
