Bednar sidelined by facial injuries; Avalanche turn to assistants for two-game road swing

Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar will miss two games on the team’s road trip after suffering facial fractures and a corneal abrasion from a deflected puck. He won’t travel with the team to Edmonton and Calgary, with assistants Nolan Pratt and Dave Hakstol set to coach in his absence. Bednar is not requiring surgery and is expected to recover, with a CT scan planned for further evaluation.
