Bregman’s Big Contract Fails to Jump-Start the Cubs Amid Slump
TL;DR
Alex Bregman, signed by the Cubs for $175 million, is posting the worst offensive season of his career with a .669 OPS, five homers and 19 RBIs in 65 games, including an 0-for-5 in a 2-1 extra-innings loss to the Giants; despite his solid defense, Chicago has collapsed from a 29-16 start to 5-16 in its last 21 games, as he acknowledges the need to execute better in key situations.
