Chicago Cubs' Roster Updates: Velazquez Up, Suzuki's Return, and Injury Updates
TL;DR
Outfielder Nelson Velazquez has been recalled from Iowa to join the Chicago Cubs, with pitcher Javier Assad being optioned to Triple A. Velazquez was a solid bench option last year and has been hitting well at Iowa this year. The move likely provides short-term bench depth, with the Cubs expected to swap Velazquez out for another pitcher in a day or two. The return of Seiya Suzuki is unaffected by the move, and Assad will likely resume starting at Iowa.
