Climate Crisis Boosts Baseball Home Runs, Say Scientists.

A new study published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society found that more than 500 home runs since 2010 can be linked to unusually warm temperatures caused by climate change. The physics at play are relatively simple: warmer temperatures make air less dense, allowing batted balls to carry farther and increasing the likelihood of a home run. The study suggests that climate change could end up accounting for 10% of all home runs by the end of the century. The MLB could limit the effect by switching to more domed stadiums or shifting schedules to more night games.
