Dawn Staley's HBCU Jersey Steals the Show at March Madness.

South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley wore a Cheyney University jersey during the March Madness game against South Florida. Cheyney is the oldest HBCU in the US, and its women's basketball team was the first and only HBCU to reach the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament in 1982. Staley wore the No. 44 jersey, which belonged to Yolanda Laney, the mother of New York Liberty standout Betnijah Laney. Staley hopes that playing against HBCUs will help lift their profile and draw more attention to their programs.
