Lincoln University Alumni Demand $549M From Missouri for Decades of Funding Gaps
Alumni and students of Lincoln University have filed a federal lawsuit against Missouri, seeking over $500 million in damages for alleged discriminatory underfunding. The suit claims the state violated the 1890 Morrill Act by failing to match federal research dollars for the historically Black institution, unlike its treatment of the University of Missouri. Plaintiffs seek a permanent funding parity decree and a remediation fund to address infrastructure and financial shortfalls.
