Dodgers Activate Will Smith, DFA Ben Rortvedt to Clear Roster Spot

The Dodgers activated Will Smith from the injured list and recalled Dalton Rushing, Justin Wrobleski, and infielder Alex Freeland, while optioning Alek Thomas. Ben Rortvedt was designated for assignment to clear a 40-man and active roster spot for Smith. Smith returns after neck disc inflammation with a brief rehab stint; Rushing comes back from a partial UCL tear and might not yet be throwing, and Freeland is back at Oklahoma City. Rortvedt will likely clear waivers or be assigned to Oklahoma City, with Feduccia remaining as Smith’s backup behind the plate.
