"Dodgers Make Surprising Roster Moves: Lamet DFA'd, Varland Recalled"
TL;DR
The Los Angeles Dodgers have designated right-hander Dinelson Lamet for assignment to make room for Gus Varland, who has been called up from Triple-A. Lamet's recent performance has been underwhelming, and the Dodgers are taking a risk by potentially losing him on DFA waivers in order to add Varland to the roster. Lamet has struggled with injuries and control issues over the past few years, and his time with the Dodgers has been one of his better stretches in recent times.
