The former owners of the Utah Jazz are pushing for a Major League Baseball franchise in Salt Lake City, with a coalition called Big League Utah targeting a site for a ballpark on the city's west side. While MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has said he doesn't envision expansion until after the Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland Athletics get new ballparks, the Miller family and the Larry H. Miller Company have formally registered their interest in Salt Lake being considered an expansion market. Other cities expressing possible interest in obtaining an MLB team include Montreal, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Portland.
