Jonathan Toews' Departure Marks End of an Era for Blackhawks.

The Chicago Blackhawks will not re-sign Jonathan Toews, their captain for the past 15 years, when he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. General Manager Kyle Davidson said he made the decision to create a clean slate for the team's next generation of young players and allow for the organic growth of leadership skills. Toews has not yet decided whether he will retire or try to play again next season, but the Blackhawks believe he will play somewhere. Davidson said the door would be open for Toews to look at front-office jobs with the Hawks when he decides to retire.
