TL;DR

Seattle reinstated Rob Refsnyder from the 10-day IL and designated Buddy Kennedy for assignment to clear a roster spot, with Refsnyder returning as a potential right-handed bat while Kennedy, who had just 11 PA, is out of options and likely to clear waivers. Refsnyder has struggled this season (.133/.203/.219 in 49 games) and the Mariners, who lean left in the lineup, are seeking a righty bat ahead of the trade deadline; they’ve been linked to moves involving Luis Castillo or Emerson Hancock, which could determine Refsnyder’s future in Seattle.
