Mariners land patient slugger Taylor Ward, shipping three relievers to Orioles
TL;DR
Seattle acquired outfielder Taylor Ward from Baltimore in exchange for three relievers — Alex Hoppe and prospects Brock Moore and Harrison Kreiling — adding a patient, right-handed bat who performs well against left-handed pitching and fits as a leadoff/OF/DH option. Ward, 32, is under contract through 2026 and owns a career line of .247/.336/.426 with a 114 wRC+. He has posted elite walk rates this season, though his power is down, and he’s expected to slot into Seattle’s lineup to bolster its 2027 outlook while the three outgoing pitchers provide organizational depth.
