Red Sox and Yankees Make Rare Trade, Swapping Alex Verdugo

The New York Yankees have acquired outfielder Alex Verdugo from the Boston Red Sox in a trade, with the Red Sox receiving right-handers Richard Fitts, Greg Weissert, and Nicholas Judice. The Yankees sought to improve their offense after finishing 25th in runs scored last season, and Verdugo will join their outfield alongside Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. Verdugo, who spent the last four seasons in Boston, is scheduled to make around $9 million in his final season of arbitration. The trade marks the eighth between the rivals since 1969.
