The Cincinnati Reds have designated pitcher Luis Cessa for assignment after he struggled in his last seven games, including six starts. Cessa, who was making $2.65 million in 2023, will be a free agent after the season. The Reds have an opening in their rotation and are considering right-handed pitcher Ben Lively, who was called up from Triple-A Louisville.
