"Summer McIntosh's Historic 800m Freestyle Victory Over Ledecky"
TL;DR
At the Southern Zone Sectionals in Orlando, Summer McIntosh stunned the swimming world with her 800 free performance, clocking 8:11.39, second only to Katie Ledecky. McIntosh's time shattered Canadian and Commonwealth records, and would have won gold at the Tokyo Olympics. Her dominance in the event, typically not her best, has sparked speculation about her future in the 800 free at the Olympics, as she has primarily focused on other events internationally.
