TL;DR

Michael Thorbjornsen lived up to Rory McIlroy’s 2025 praise by capturing his first PGA Tour win at the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club, finishing two shots ahead of Xander Schauffele. The 24-year-old had previously come close with multiple runner-ups and thirds, and McIlroy’s long‑standing belief in his potential adds weight to the milestone as Thorbjornsen cements himself on golf’s big stage, amid ongoing discussions about longevity and new formats like TGL.
