Amazon Exits MMO Publishing, Transferring Lost Ark and Throne and Liberty to New Western Publishers

Amazon Game Studios is no longer publishing two western MMOs, Lost Ark and Throne and Liberty, with publishing duties moving to Smilegate for Lost Ark (early 2027) and NC via FireSpark Games for Throne and Liberty (Q4 2026). Western access remains, but data transfer varies: characters and in-game currency are expected to carry over for Throne and Liberty, while Lost Ark may lose mail and chat history (and Auction House items’ transfer is undecided). New World will shut down January 31, 2027, and Amazon has already canceled other MMO plans like a Lord of the Rings title, signaling a shift toward casual titles on Luna and Prime gaming.
