Gary Bowser, Nintendo Hacker, Released from Prison but Remains in Debt for Life

Gary Bowser, a hacker who was sentenced to 40 months in prison for distributing and selling piracy-enabling devices, has been released but will remain in debt to Nintendo for the rest of his life. He has agreed to pay a $4.5m fine and an additional $10m to settle Nintendo's civil lawsuit against him. Nintendo can now recoup 25-30% of his personal income for the rest of his working life, and has already taken back $175 from his prison job. Bowser had worked as part of the hacking group Team Xecuter, which caused damages greater than $65m to Nintendo.
