Sony Data Breach Exposes Personal Information of Thousands of Employees

Sony Interactive Entertainment has notified approximately 6,800 employees and their family members that their personal information may have been exposed in a hack earlier this year. The breach occurred when an unauthorized actor exploited a vulnerability in Progress Software's MOVEit file transfer platform. Sony took immediate action to remediate the vulnerability and notified law enforcement. The ransomware group "Cl0p" has claimed responsibility for the cyberattack and leaked some of the compromised data. Sony is offering free Equifax credit-monitoring and identity restoration services to those affected.
