"Controversy and Confusion Surround Steam Awards 2023 and Baldur's Gate 3's Success"

The Steam Awards 2023 have sparked debate over the value of fan-voted awards after controversial wins by Starfield for Most Innovative Gameplay and Red Dead Redemption 2 for the Labor of Love Award. Critics argue that Starfield's gameplay is not particularly innovative and that Red Dead Redemption 2 is not as well-supported as other nominees. The Last of Us Part 1 also raised eyebrows with its Best Soundtrack win for a score originally composed in 2013. The results highlight the influence of fandom and the potential for popularity to skew the outcomes of such awards.
