Dragon Quest X: Version 8 Caps the Main Story as Switch 2 Gains Free Upgrades

At the Dragon Quest X Spring Festival 2026, Square Enix announced Version 8: The Lost Children of Time and Space, due June 25, 2026, which will bring the main storyline to a close while leaving side content ongoing. The Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a free upgrade with faster performance, improved event scenes, HDR support, and 1080p handheld resolution (up from 720p). The game remains Japan-exclusive, with an offline version based on select material that has not been localized.
