"Final Fantasy 14 Xbox Version Introduces Exclusive In-Game Currency for Microtransactions and Subscriptions"

The Xbox Series X/S version of Final Fantasy 14 will introduce its own currency called FFXIV Coins for microtransactions and subscriptions, which players will have to buy with real money to make purchases on the Online Store and Mog Station. Existing players with accounts on other platforms can continue their progress on Xbox, but will need to use FFXIV Coins for purchases. The new currency may allow Microsoft to take a percentage from microtransactions and subscriptions for players exclusively on Xbox. The game's Expanded Free Trial is also available on Xbox, allowing players to experience the base game and its first two expansions up to level 70 before requiring a monthly fee to continue playing.
