TL;DR

Mortal Kombat 1 will feature a new system for unlocks instead of the Krypt system, according to series creator Ed Boon. While details are scarce, fans are hoping for a more in-depth system like Street Fighter 6's RPG-style World Tour mode or the return of minigames from past titles. The game is set to release on PlayStation 5.
